Key job responsibilities
* Build services and web apps that simplify the lives of Fulfillment Technologies & Robotics operators teams.
* Work with partner teams to identify operational bottlenecks in robotics solutions, then create tools to address them.
* Create software that models complex operational trade-offs to prioritize problems in robotic-enabled warehouses.
* Apply AWS technologies to deploy and run highly available services at Amazon scale.
* Participate in code reviews, design meetings, integration testing, and production rollout.

A day in the life
As a Software Development Engineer II on the Support Automation Systems team, you will design, develop, and support cloud services and web applications that simplify the management of robotics-enabled fulfillment and sortation solutions for operations and support teams. You will collaborate with internal customers and engineering teams to identify, model, prioritize, and solve business problems in complex warehouse environments. By considering the constraints of robotic systems and examining operational trade offs, you will build software that identifies high priority problems and empowers operators to run their warehouses effectively.

About the team
Amazon Robotics is seeking uniquely talented and motivated Software Development Engineer to join our Global Support and Safety (GSS) Support Automation Systems Team. Support Automation Systems focuses on improving the supportability of Amazon Robotics (AR) solutions through automation, with the explicit goal of simplifying issue resolution and management of our global network of fulfillment and sortation solutions. We act as a force multiplier for our direct Support teams, providing them real time diagnostics and system insights while inventing mechanisms that make complex robotic systems easier for operations teams to manage.

- 3+ years of non-internship professional software development experience
- 2+ years of non-internship design or architecture (design patterns, reliability and scaling) of new and existing systems experience
- Experience programming with at least one software programming language
- Experience programming with at least one modern language such as Java, C++, or C# including object-oriented design
- Experience contributing to the architecture and design (architecture, design patterns, reliability and scaling) of new and current systems
- Professional experience using AWS technologies such as Lambda, SQS/SNS, S3, and DynamoDB


- 3+ years of full software development life cycle, including coding standards, code reviews, source control management, build processes, testing, and operations experience
- Bachelor's degree in computer science or equivalent
- 2+ years of building complex software systems experience
- 2+ years of professional Java enterprise development
- Experience developing and supporting web APIs using GraphQL or similar technologies

Our compensation reflects the cost of labor across several US geographic markets. The base pay for this position ranges from $115,000/year in our lowest geographic market up to $223,600/year in our highest geographic market. Pay is based on a number of factors including market location and may vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. Amazon is a total compensation company.
