The team 

ING's Growth & Careers team is part of the broader global Talent & Learning team that ensures we can attract, develop, engage and retain the most talented people and help them grow and develop with ING. 


The global Growth & Careers team enables ING’s business strategy by facilitating the development of our people, ensuring they- and ING- are resilient and future-proof. We focus on delivering a truly engaging, employee-focused career offer for all our people, plus targeted development for key talent segments and create solutions to upskill and reskill as our business evolves. 

This role will be instrumental in ensuring ING develops extraordinary talent and leadership capabilities to fuel our performance. You’ll be a key leader within our Global Growth & Careers team, helping to build a culture of growth and inclusion through bank-wide talent development solutions and leadership development experiences that support career growth and leadership performance.


Reporting to our global Head of Growth & Careers you will be working closely with your peers, as well as a broader team of Talent leads across our 44 countries.   


Roles and responsibilities 

From analysis, strategy through to delivery you will partner with the Head of Growth & Careers, broader Talent & Learning team, business leaders and key stakeholders to drive bank-wide talent development solutions and leadership development experiences that support career growth and leadership performance. You will  

  • Set a clear direction for our talent and leadership development solutions, grounded in analysing, diagnosing and addressing leadership challenges that cut across ING Bank. 
  • Develop, implement, communicate and measure targeted talent & leadership development solutions for our talent segments, linking directly to what is needed to deliver organisational growth and performance aligned to ING’s strategic objectives. 
  • Drive the next phase of existing programs, tracking momentum and impact on alumni across diverse business lines, geographies and functions. 
  • Enrich our talent and leadership development solutions with principles of inclusive leadership. 
  • Ensure a consistent employee experience is delivered through the global team and country-based partners, and monitoring effectiveness and impact in order to continuously improve the value added.  
  • Take ownership for building, recommending and sustaining partnerships with leading external partners, ensuring business relevance, demonstrable outcomes, quality and value for money. 
  • Act as a strategic business partner and adviser on all talent development and leadership development matters. 
  • Continually engage and upskill the global, matrixed team who contribute to the success of talent development and leadership development initiatives. 
  • Support the evolution of an engaged global Growth & Careers team

To play your part in our Career’s & Growth team succeeding you ideally bring: 

  • A bachelor or a master’s degree
  • 10+ years’ professional experience with proven HR / Learning & Development success delivering business outcomes in a corporate matrix organization environment.
  • A mindset of continuous learning & growth and focus of making things happen. 
  • Strong analytical and problem solving skills and ability to diagnose, design and implement innovative, business relevant and employee focused solutions that deliver real results. 
  • Demonstrated expertise in effective talent & leadership development practices. Ideally paired with certification(s) in coaching and/or recognized development instruments. 
  • Significant project and program management experience with ability to  balance multiple projects in various stages of design and delivery. 
  • Ability to influence, involve, empower and encourage stakeholders across all levels of a complex, matrixed organisation and ability to build a broad network of productive and strong working relationships. 
  • Excellent communication skills with the ability to balance diplomacy and challenge. 
  • A global perspective with sensitivity to multiple and diverse cultures 
  • Experience managing and being accountable for a budget.
