As part of the GS tech working with Financial Crime & Fraud Prevention (GFCFP), you will be involved with the development of state-of-the-art solutions on relevant topics such as Anti-Money Laundering, Counter Terrorism Financing, Fraud, Sanctions and their global implementation across 40+ countries, affecting 36 million ING customers.

The team

This position is specifically for Chapter Leadership in Client Tax Service within GFCFP. The Engineering Chapter Lead role is twofold. First and foremost, he/she performs content tasks, contributing to a Tribe’s/Squad’s purpose for 50% of his/her time. Second, he/she is the Agile Manager (hierarchical manager) of an IT Chapter, a group of professionals in the same area of expertise.

For details on the Data Engineer work, he/she contributes as a squad member. As a role model, he/she should contribute actively to squad’s tasks to ensure the application delivery, quality and stability.

As an Agile Manager, the Chapter Lead focuses on the increasing the craftsmanship of his/her employees: facilitate his/her chapter to ensure proper knowledge sharing, standard setting and issue remediation. He/she also follow individually chapter members to accompany them in their careers and help them grow.

Your key responsibilities:

For the content work tasks of IT Data Engineer role (50%):

  • Lead, design and implement global technology solutions in a complex stakeholder landscape

  • Experience with technology strategy and translating business requirements into strategic technology solutions

  • Design and implement optimization and constant improvement processes: automating and optimizing data delivery and scalability

  • Design and implement highly-performant and secured solutions and data models for data ingestion, processing and storage

  • Identify, design and implement frameworks for highest level of data quality and standards

  • Work with data and analytics experts and contribute towards greatest functionality in our data systems and our data-driven organization

  • Assemble large, complex data sets that meet functional and non-functional requirements

For the Agile Manager tasks of IT Chapter Lead role (50%):

  • Stimulates the ‘new’ culture

    • Acts as an agile role model

    • Coaches individual IT Chapter members on agile-mindset and behavior, on expertise related skills and knowledge sharing

    • Challenges IT Chapter members in their way of working and their continuous improvements

  • Realizes and maintains the IT maturity

    • Strengthens the organization by continuously improving the IT Chapter’s way of working/standards

  • Organizational Development and Employee planning

    • Identifies and stimulates the processing of organizational improvement opportunities

    • Performs the PCB (Planning, Coaching, Appraisal) cycle with all his/her internal IT Chapter members

    • Discusses IT Chapter progress in skills development and future demand with the IT (Area) Lead

    • Allocates IT Chapter members to relevant Squads

    • Ensures qualitative alignment between IT Chapter members and relevant Product Owners’ planned business value (Staffing)

    • Performs long term employability planning

    • Performs all other people management tasks, e.g. recruitment, talent management, et cetera

    • Propagates IT vision and strategy to his/her IT Chapter members in order to align goals

  • Vendor management

    • Play an active role in discussions on new technology and manage supplier wherein need be

  • Knowledge sharing

    • Ensures the application of expertise specific standards (DoD)

    • Shares relevant insights and developments in his/her own expertise with his/her and other IT Chapter members

  • Miscellaneous

    • Follows market developments in his/her area of expertise

    • Aligns with other (IT) Chapter Leads

  • Bachelor’s/Master’s degree in engineering

Technology, tools and process knowledge

  • Proficient (senior) engineer with several years of experience in Data and Software Engineer roles

  • Working knowledge in data warehousing concepts, data lakes, data marts

  • Experience with ETL processes and tools: IBM InfoSphere Data Stage, IBM InfoSphere Data Architect and/or other relevant tooling

  • Excellent SQL knowledge and experience, working with various types of relational as well as non-relational databases

  • Mentoring and training other engineers in the field of Data and Platform operations

  • Determine work breakdown and tasking, resolve technical issues, understand technical architectures.

  • Automation and optimisation mindset

  • Good Communications and Presentations skills

  • Facilitation and problem-solving skills

  • Proactive attitude, always on the look-out for improving your and our way of working

  • Able to express and defend his/her opinion in front of a crowd (even if it is not the popular opinion)
