About the job: This position performs moderately difficult research, design, and software development assignments for the GEARS crash reporting team. The position should have the ability to work on individual pieces of work and solve problems including the design of the program flow of individual pieces of code, effective coding, and unit testing.
About the team: This is a part of the GEARS crash reporting team, partnering with law enforcement agencies across the state
You will be responsible for:
Performing moderately difficult research, design and software development projects
Working on individual pieces of work and solving problems including the design of the program flow of individual pieces of code, effective coding, and unit testing
Interfacing with other technical personnel or team members to finalize requirements.
Writing and reviewing portions of detailed specifications for the development of system components of moderate complexity.
Working closely with other development team members to understand moderately complex product requirements and translate them into software designs.
Successfully implementing development processes, coding best practices, and code reviews.
Operating in various development environments (Agile, Waterfall, etc.) while collaborating with key stakeholders.
Resolving technical issues as necessary.
Keeping abreast of new technology developments.
Completing bug fixes.
Qualifications:
3+ years of Software Engineering experience (.Net, C#, Blazor, SQL, XML, HTML, Winforms, ASP.Net, MVC)
BS Engineering/Computer Science or equivalent experience required
Proficiency with data manipulation languages.
Understanding of data modeling principles.
Ability to work with complex data models.
Familiarity of industry best practices — code coverage.
Ability to work well with internal and external technology resources.
Ability to write and review portions of detailed specifications for the development of system components of moderate complexity.
Knowledge of software development methodologies (e.g., Agile, Waterfall).
Experience with Azure DevOps.
Knowledge of data manipulation languages.
Knowledge of data storage subsystems.
Knowledge of test-driven development.
Ability to write and review portions of detailed specifications for the development of system components of moderate complexity.
Ability to complete moderately complex bug fixes.
Good oral and written communications skill
