Senior Front-end Engineer - Design System
We are looking for a brilliant and passionate front-end developer to join our design systems team MADE at Mastercard.
MADE (Mastercard Adaptive Design Ecosystem) is our family of web and mobile design systems, with a collection of UI components, design patterns, and guidelines. We help product teams maintain design standards, increase productivity, and bring products to market faster.
Develop and maintain responsive, accessible, and scalable UI components that follow coding best practices.
Create technical documentation and guidelines in Storybook.
Collaborate with cross-functional teams to understand user needs and design requirements for the design system.
Contribute technical expertise throughout all stages of product design and development.
Offer alternatives when technology constraints require design compromises.
Articulate technical challenges and solutions with a hands-on coding approach.
Resolve defects/bugs during QA testing, pre-production, production, and post-release patches.
Ownership of quality standards, processes, and scheduling
Help develop and refine the UI component library and interaction guidelines.
Utilization of responsive design and emerging coding and design practices
Experience working with Design Systems/building and designing scalable and performant systems and tools such as Storybook.
Experience building responsive and mobile-first applications
Experience with version control systems (Git, BitBucket, etc.)
Experience of Web Accessibility (ARIA & WCAG)
Focus on quality through testable code with automation & CI/CD considerations (Jenkins, Github Actions)
Good technical writing skills with a background in user guides
Expert knowledge of builds tools, dependency management & semantic versioning
Solid communication skills: Demonstrated ability to explain complex technical issues to both technical and non-technical audiences
Experience with mobile hybrid frameworks such as Flutter
Knowledge of native mobile development for iOS and Android
Experience with theming and white labeling. (Design Tokens and tools such as Style Dictionary a bonus)
