Who You'll Work With

You will work across a variety of projects and support the growth of our core data platform. You will be based in our San Jose, Costa Rica office and you will work with the Economics research team that is part of the McKinsey Global Institute (MGI). MGI is the business and economics research arm of McKinsey & Co. and combines the disciplines of economics and management, employing the analytical tools of economics with the insights of business leaders.

This internship position is a 12-month full-time opportunity for students or new professionals looking to gain that extra step towards their professional development.Please note:This internship cannot be used to satisfy the requirements of the Professional Practice.

What You'll Do

You will work closely with our manager of data initiatives, engineers, and economists in a collaborative and fast-paced environment. You will contribute to the roadmap, development, and enhancement of our data assets and data platform.

Some responsibilities would include collaboration with team members to understand vision, goals, and priorities of the data platform. You will facilitate ingestion of large datasets into platform and create visualizations and documentation to enhance user experience, support data governance and data management activities.

You will track and analyze the usage metrics of our platform, leverage user data to help team better understand user behavior and analyze user engagement metrics and feedback to make data-driven recommendations for product improvement and optimizations. You will assist in defining and documenting product requirements, features, and user stories based on user feedback, work with analysts and engineers to translate product requirements into structured assets and also collaborate with cross-functional teams, to develop go-to-market strategies and asset launch plans.

Qualifications

Final year of bachelor’s or master’s degree in Business, Computer Science, Information Technology or Engineering with a focus in Economics
Passion for data-intense asset design and development
Strong interest in data analytics and product management
Proficiency in Python, Snowflake, Tableau and Excel required
Experience / Exposure to SQL, R, Knime, Power BI and Cloud Environments are considered pluses
Familiarity with agile methodologies and product development lifecycle is a plus
Self-motivated, proactive, and able to work both independently and collaborative
Attention to detail
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
